I love high summer where flowers are blooming and vegetables are being harvesting from the garden. I love all the fresh fruit and produce and summertime meals and desserts. Some of my favorites are corn on the cob, watermelon and berries, along with squash and green beans, and tomatoes. When I think of the vibrant colors of fresh produce, I see red radishes and beets, leafy greens, orange and yellow peppers, and so much more. I love how fresh produce feeds and nourishes my body.
I have recently transitioned into a plant-based diet and I have been feeling so much more energy and love how my body is responding to a cleaner style of eating. I was already gluten free, sugar free, and soy free - I just moved into that last step of being dairy free and being completely off of red meat and chicken. I am trying new recipes; I have found some excellent substitutes for dairy based foods and I am seeing that with some planning the menu can be fun and easy.
For those of us that are concerned about the integrity of our food, moving into a plant -based diet seems like a very good choice. The adulterated food sources are really starting to affect the health of the American population. Studies show that additives, GMO change, pesticides, and processing plants are contributing to health issues and serious diseases.
I want foods that nourish my body and help it to function in its best possible form. I think choosing health means taking responsibility for the way we are eating and how we are feeding ourselves and our families. I also understand that it is not easy to navigate the world of food and all of its many choices. But, I believe that as we feed ourselves emotionally in healthier ways by resolving past hurt and trauma and we continue to heal toxic emotional patterns in family systems, we are preparing to live a more balanced, healthier lifestyle.
Using IPT throughout the years has helped me activate better self-care habits in lots of different areas. And I am definitely taking better care of myself, not because I am afraid of what will happen if I don’t but, rather because I love myself enough to make healthier choices. I am choosing better sleep patterns, making healthier choices with food and even staying committed to my personal exercise goals. Healing old patterns helps us learn how to honor self and take responsibility for our lives.
No matter where you are on your healing journey, I want to encourage you continue to “let go” of toxicity and what is no longer needed physically and emotionally. Embrace the urge to upgrade your choices, try new approaches to living a healthier lifestyle and make change happen for you in good ways. Live a cleaner, more simple life, and above all else, choose to live from a place of love and joy!
Loves always,
Pam
P.S Trust that you are in the right place at the right time in your healing and be sure to celebrate your progress!
