Emotional health for children involves building flexible, confident learners, developing emotional vocabulary, managing emotions, and sustaining healthy attachments in relationships. These are some of the building blocks for mental, physical and social development.
Important strategies for parents and caregivers would be providing unconditional love, helping the child set up daily self-care routines, encouraging open communication about feelings, and fostering safe, supportive environments where the child can have a sense of belonging.
Smart Hearts for kids will be launching in the spring of 2026 and will provide 12 monthly emotional health kits with games, concept books, puzzles, crafts, mazes, etc. to help teach children these important emotional and social skills. Simple parenting tips for parents and caregivers will also be provided in each kit.
One of the most powerful skills to help our children develop emotionally, is the ability to manage heavy feelings in healthy ways. Smart Hearts for kids will provide mindfulness and meditation techniques. This would include guided visualization and breathing exercises. Children learn quickly and can gain confidence when they can master their own internal world.
One little boy in kindergarten shares how he feels about taking deep breaths: “I like breathing because it makes me feel all soft inside.” A sixth grader shares his experience of mindfulness and breathing exercises: “I never really knew what to do when my mother told me to calm down. Now I do, because I practice every night doing mindfulness exercises. I am getting better at listening to my mom and calming my mind and my body.”
Practicing mindful attention takes effort. It is training the mind to focus on what you want it to focus on, instead of being held hostage by distracting thoughts, unwanted negativity and fears. By using the connection to breath work and increasing children’s self-awareness, kids learn just how easy it is to concentrate and be in charge of their bodies.
Again, I am really excited to bring these resources into your homes so that the whole family can participate in learning emotional health principles and techniques. Watch for more information about when you can register for the Smart Hearts for Kids Kits being offered in the Spring of 2026.
We are healing the next generation by empowering children in present time!
Be a part of making change in your family!
All my love,
Pam
